How sessions work
Clinical-grade telehealth, not generic videoconferencing.
We use a dedicated clinical telehealth platform that meets DTAC and DCB0129 standards, with EU/UK data residency and a signed Data Processing Agreement. We do not use generic Zoom or Microsoft Teams for patient sessions.
Why video sessions work
The evidence for online delivery of mental health therapy is now substantial and consistent. Multiple randomised controlled trials comparing online and in-person CBT, ACT, and other evidence-based therapies have found equivalent outcomes across a wide range of presentations, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and OCD. For young people, who have grown up with technology as a natural medium for connection, the format often reduces rather than increases anxiety about engaging with a new clinician.
For families, online delivery removes significant practical barriers: no travel time, no parking, no need to take half a day off work for a 50-minute appointment. For children with sensory sensitivities or social anxiety, being in their own home can make it easier, not harder, to engage openly in an early session.
Blip's platform is purpose-built for clinical use. Sessions are encrypted end-to-end. No recordings are made without explicit consent. Data is processed and stored in the United Kingdom. We hold a signed Data Processing Agreement and our platform vendor has completed NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit assessment.
Accessibility
British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation is available on request for all sessions. Captions can be enabled within the platform. Our clinicians are experienced in adapting sessions for young people with sensory sensitivities, attention difficulties, or communication differences.
If your child finds video sessions difficult, we can discuss alternative formats, voice only, text-based communication alongside video, or split sessions with a parent present for part of the time.
We are committed to WCAG 2.2 AA standards on this website and to making our clinical service accessible to all families, regardless of disability.
